from a foreign friend of mine:
In school we are taught
to give valentines to the people we like, usually a person of the
opposite sex. Later in life it is directed to the person you love or
care about but it is still proper and polite to wish a happy Valentine
to all the people you like, no matter what the age. The expression has
always be to ask someone, "Be My Valentine". So, be mine is short for
that.
so don't have to feel guilty and risk being mistaken as trying to seduce him if i say that to anyone. Cool!
